Since my ocfd has a balun I have thought that a common mode choke would not be necessary. However some articles that I have recently read may indicate otherwise. Does anyone have any information that can clear this up. I realize I can wind one easily enough, but since my antenna does not have a support there I don't want to add any weight unnecessarily. Does anyone have any more information about this? Thanks Paul W8SBH

Since my ocfd has a balun I have assumed that a common mode choke is not required. I haven't seen any common mode current back in the shack Some articles that I have read make me wonder if I should add one. I can wind one but don't want to add the weight since I don't have a support at the junction on the antenna. Paul W8SBH

Ugly Balun

Added an ugly balun air coiled with RG213 7 turns today. Put this on an Antron 99 and it seems to be working well. Anyone else use these?

I've searched the groups for one discussing cobweb antennas for HF -- preferably home-built and kits. Is there one here? If not I will start one.

Cubical Quad #2meter Antenna
2
#2meter
So, I built a 2 meter cubical quad antenna. Recently, i took some measurements with my nanovna. As you can see the SWR is a little high at 2.42, and the reflect is about 20% with 80% of the power making into the antenna. The ohms are at 49.5 almost 50. I'd like to improve these numbers as I am using a handheld, if anyone could suggest some tuning methods I'd appreciate it.
