I believe in made in America too, but in today's global economy, it's a thing of the past.? Do we want our TV's to be hand wired by hundreds of people sitting at work stations?? I don't think so.? No one has a captive internal market anymore, except for maybe China.? I don't think we want to manager our economy they way they do.
?
Some one commented about US R&D spending.? We really do spend as Carl Segan said "billions and billions" of dollars on R&D.? It's just that we don't spend it on PlayStations, telephones that take pictures and play music,?and similar useless gadgets for automobiles. What real value is a car that parallel parks itself?? The result of our R&D spending?is not as obvious but in the long run a lot more beneficial to our economy.
?
Where the US has fallen down is upgrading our infrastructure.? What ever happened to an optical fiber telephone system promised years ago.? We have a few optical links but the majority is still copper at what band width?

Made in America?? Things should be, my son is in the Air Force and ships out to Iraq on the 3rd of Jan. He was showing me his equipment going with him. The jump quality backpack and other gear made for our service men and women, made in America ??? NO----made in China ----no it is made in Vietnam. I am 62 and I remember a little problem with them in my younger days.

?I don¡¯t have a workable solution, but what we have scares me. If someone built a simple radio or amp and tried to sell it would any one buy it? Would they spend their on the next generation of bells and whistle system from across the pond?
