Asking price $2800
Nova Hitch Alt-Az Mount in excellent condition.
A rare copy of the late Charles Riddel's custom-machined masterpiece. This version has all the bells and whistles:
- Optional Tripod Quick Release (TQR)
- Slow Motion Controls
- Dual-axis Encoders
- Stepper Motors in Each Axis
- Motor Controller Handbox
- Quick Release/Tighten Dovetail Clamp
- Quick Release/Tighten Levers on Each Axis
- Nova Hitch-specific 9" dovetail
- Optional finderscope bracket
- Optional folding navigation computer (e.g. Nexus) bracket
?Quoting from Charles at the user's page:
"The Nova Hitch has probably the smoothest and most precise slow-motion controls ever installed on a mount ... most Nova Hitch users find that direct pushing?
is often the most convenient way to follow an object, and the Nova Hitch excels at direct manipulation as well as following objects with the slow-motion controls."?
...
"The Nova Hitch was a supreme bargain. It functions extremely well for the intended applications. It should have had a base price of at least $4000."
The unique dual-axis system that Charles used allows for precise balancing. With Charles' passing, this is a rare opportunity to own a mount from a master craftsman.
Note:? I have connected the Motor Controller Handbox just to test it.? It appears to work perfectly, but I have not actually used it in the field.? It can be trained to auto track in Alt-Az mode via the controller.?
I will include the documentation that came with the mount and will ship it in custom packaging.? Shipping will probably be in two boxes.
I am selling this as a complete package; nothing will be parted out or sold separately.? Because of the complexity of packaging and shipping this mount all sales will be final. Please include the PayPal fee or send money via friends and family.?
