I trust that your new year 2025 is off to a great start!

On behalf of HELINA, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 edition of the only health informatics and digital health scientific conference on the African continent that has been running for the last 30 years.

Taking place in the beautiful city of Gaberone, you will get to meet, interact with, share and learn from researchers and innovators, digital health leaders and policy makers, implementers and practitioners, users and consumers of digital interventions, services and applications in health, in Africa.?

This is an important platform to deeply engage in conversations and discourse particularly around what actually works, how well it works, its generalisability and replicability, and most importantly, IMPACT on what is uniquely important to each of the 55+ distinct and deeply interconnected countries in Africa.??

The HELINA 2025 conference will build on the extraordinary successes from the inaugural Open Digital Health Summit () that HELINA co-hosted with the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Health, Ministry of ICT and our international partners, the World Health Organization, Google Health, ITU. I therefore encourage you to plan for to be in Gaberone for the entire week and participate in exciting pre-conference actiivities that will include didactic learning and hands-on activities in Digital Public Infrastructure for health, SMART guidelines, standards and interoperability.?
