Topic: Improving Maternal and Child Health Behaviors in Mayan Communities Through Digitally Enabled Home Visits
?
Background
Join us on Wednesday, November 13 at 9 a.m. ET for an insightful webinar, "Improving Maternal and Child Health Behaviors in Mayan Communities Through Digitally Enabled Home Visits." We will explore an innovative strategy to promote the adoption of health and nutrition behaviors designed to support stunting prevention efforts in the Guatemalan Highlands. This session will be presented by Breakthrough ACTION staff in Guatemala; Breakthrough ACTION is a global social and behavior change project funded by USAID and led by Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs. They will highlight the critical role of community facilitators ¡ª trained local women who use a mobile application to educate families on essential maternal and child health practices, including pregnancy care, family planning, exclusive breastfeeding, solid food introduction, child growth monitoring, and baby WASH. Presenters will discuss how technology has empowered community facilitators to provide accurate information on multiple health topics to mothers and, at the same time, facilitated data collection for rapid program monitoring. By fostering community engagement and capacity building, this project provides a successful model for improving maternal and child health in low-resource settings, offering valuable insights for future research and collaboration.?
