All others more than equally welcome. The more licenced opperators, and students willing to learn and score on their work record sheets', The better. As a Club, let's make this work. If other clubs around the country can do it, "Then So Can We", , "THE MYRS CLUB". Re "h&s", my idea of a field kitchen style BBQ has been well thought out, and I've had plenty of training for it when I was in the millitary, under "hostile" conditions, so no need for "h&s" concern. I know what I'm doing in that department, and,/ but for the concern of one who shall remain "nameless", "I" will have sufficient in hand in the shape of fire extinguishers. Re "h&s" on RF Radiation from aerials, all fully licensed operators should already know the formula, as it was part of the original R.A.E. and it still is part of the "Advanced" coursework. For interested students, this formula information can be found in the "Advanced Licence" Coursework study book. I hope this helps any students who may have any concerns with this subject as was recently raised at a MYRS meeting one evening. For further details, please see other parts of this email, originated by me and forwarded by me. This part is basically a "PS" / amendment to my original email as attached. Cheers for now, 73, Ray Davidson, M0RAY, MYRS Treasurer. -------- Original Message --------
Subject: Fwd: Re: Field day weekend 7th/ 8th. From: Ray Davidson <ka1828gg@...> To: ian hope <ian@...> CC: trev@... Okies Ian, so I loose out on this one. How's abt getting something sorted for a fun only w/e in a few weeks time. I have interest from Norman, a student club member, willing to learn, who you haven't met yet, plus little Terry, student club member who you do know, and given 2 to 3 weeks notice, Andy & Ben, who you also know well. There is also big Terry who Has mentioned an interest recently as well, but we do need "Your" experience and knowledge as well to help everything go as smoothly as everything did at our last field event. I apologize in advance if I seem to be trying to take your position over as events organizer, but the club needs to be seen to be active on the air doing field events and bringing more "Public Interest" like some of those those who dropped by at our last event. I deliberately iterate your great work and enthusiasm shown at the last special event 7 weeks back. I could never have made that work on my own for 3 reasons. One of which is visibly obvious. 2nd, I don't have the high riser kit, and 3rd, I don't have the on site experience that you have, especially when things go wrong, like getting a linear working agn or other probs that you alone can sort out. My hand goes out to you for that Ian. Then, tho he of little interest in radio, (Ashley) I found to be of huge help in many ways more than once. When is the next contest that is best entered as a field event. Take this as priorer notice to populate it and get it sorted if possible, lol. I will, & I am sure Trevor will do all that he can, and myself as an instructor, try and get students interested so that they can learn some of and put into full practice what they need for their practical studies towards getting their licences, especially making up and using aerials and practice some operating skills in a "real time" environment. I've used this method of tuition in the past at another club, and it works very well. However, it all requires ,"Team Work" & you, from what I saw at the last event, are an essential part of the team. I'm not leaving Trevor out of this, as he is as equally important as you are, and equally essential for successful running of such an event. Now I'm beginning to sound more like a club chairman rather than my own committee position, lol. Sorry for that. Who ever said wee can't have a sence of humour in the club?. Oh, we also need a reliable "Char Walla" on sight at the event to keep us all well watered / lubricated and fed. BBQ comes to mind as well. Don't need a special device for that. A "dugout" in a small hump in the ground will work very well, given some x-lattice iron work to use as a grilling device. Don't know why I never thought about that back in July when we were waiting on some one who didn't show up lol. I've done some of that on field exercise when I was in the R.A.F. I think Ashley would enjoy taking part in that side of things with a bit of help from one who's done field kitchen in the past, LoL. Okies, enough waffle from me. Over to you Ian, since YOU are the clubs events organizer. Remember tho, we ain't got much of the official summer left, lol. Many thanks Ian in advance, De Ray. M0RAY, MYARS Treasurer. |
