Re: MARTS G6NU Meeting

Hi,

?

If MARTS are interested I have an mp3 file of Bill Nutton telling some stories about his early years which was broadcast on BBC Radio Kent (or it might even have been Radio Medway at that time) in 1980 I believe.

?

The file is about 28 minutes long and just over 28Mb in size.? Let me know asap if they need it.? It is too big to attach to e-mail and so will have to go in the post or will have to do some sort of FTP for it.?? That will be a challenge here with net upload speeds of around 40 ¨C 50 Kbps.

?

The club Bill was involved in in Maidstone was the ¡°other¡± club that didn¡¯t become MYMCA.? The information was on the club web site.? I did quite a bit of research about it.? I handed all the web documents over when I left the area.? Whoever has them now should able to follow it through.

John - G6IVP asked me to advise everyone at MYARS of the following:

?

?

Dear MYARS Friends,

It occurred to me that there may be some members, within your club, who knew William (Bill) Nutton G6NU "Naughty Uncle" who was a founder member of the MARTS. As well as founding the MARTS, I believe that Bill played a part in the formation of an amateur radio club in Maidstone. Whether or not this became MYARS I do not know but some members may be interested.

I would therefore like to invite anyone from your club to the following meeting of the MARTS on Friday 19 October 2012 at the MARTS QTH (Tunbury Hall) open at 19:30 hrs local time. Please note this open invitation to members and friends old and new.

On the evening of Friday 19th October 2012 the MARTS will be privileged to welcome Bill Nutton's granddaughter, Ms Elaine Nutton, who has asked to meet the Club members and has offered to talk, informally, of her Grandfather.

As you may know, from the beginnings of the MARTS, throughout until his death 30 years ago early in 1982, Bill was active in Amateur Radio and served as a long time President of the MARTS.

It seems appropriate that, in its 90th year, the MARTS will have this opportunity for some of us to reminisce and others to learn about G6NU's life and to share, with Elaine, what we know of his part in the Club's history.
