Clifton net Christmas 2022

Edited

Hi folks

The Yuletide greetings net on xmas eve was unexpectedly quite well attended! The following stations were qrv ( in no particular order) on about 7.160 mhz--, Mark G0GQT ( Medaway 5/9) , Colin G0UJK( swanley 5/9 plus), Peter G7ULL ( 4/3 Chislehurst, Frank G3WMR( 5/5 Joydens wood, Bexley), Paul M0HAL 5/7 Orpington), Chris G3MGS ( 3/1 Clifton Bristol), Martin GD4ZZN ( 2/1 in the IOM) and myself Lawrie G4FAA sidcup). Two stations were former Clifton club members who picked up the Xmas net event from the g3ghn reflector per, haps? ( my rest in brackets) .Thus 8 respondents - a result!

Fortunately Colin UJK ( mni tnx!) took up the net control when it became obvious my station was too weak to resolve distant stations--.

The net traffic reminisced quite a bit including a few anecdotes from former days. Jacky G3JKY was mentioned by some and is clearly sorely missed by many Cliftonairs since he went SK.

Attempts to raise Tony G0HUZ and Suzanne on 20m and above after 1400 hrs in Dominica failed - and nothing heard. my guess is they were bicycling ashore that day ( see reflector for his future sched times ). Plan to try again after the New Year when they are back at sea en route to the UK.

Sadly no sign of Steve M0BPQ ( family duties), Clive G0PPO KeithG4TJE , Martin G0DCG ( no kit?) , Bob G4DBW or John G3FNZ ( health?) but all bar fnz posted comments on the reflector before the net. Maybe next year folks ? we are a dwindling band these days! Tempes fugit!--

Best 73 ( and 88) to all Clifton's and family for 2023 and onwards--
( revive CCC tony?)

Lawrie ( G4FAA on 27th) and xyl Maureen

Hi everyone
I did come up to try and join but was unable to find the group. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Maybe next time
Happy new year to all?

Sorry everyone, I couldn’t get on the air as guests had just arrived when the met started ?

hope you are all having a nice break

If Martin or anyone else needs help getting on the air I am happy to help. I have a large pile of unused kit and can often fashion an antenna for most locations. The Scouts have also been given several older radios which could go on loan if someone is really stuck.?

cheers
Steve.?
