hi gang- latest from Tony HUZ noe enroute to the Azores .still not hheard them ( poor prop) but hope to do so before they land in UK on feb 24th.. 73 all Lawrie G4 faa ( monday) ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: <tony.cadney@...> Date: Mon, 17 Feb 2025 at 14:51 Subject: Mid Atlantic To: Suzanne Cadney G0LUZ <suzanne.cadney@...> Hello friends & fellow radio ops. ? We are now almost in the mid North Atlantic for navigators among you 31.1N & 48.5W on a heading of 88.5 degs. (locator sq. GM51MA) On way to the Azores with 18knts of speed. WX here is typical for this region, cloudy moderate wind from the west (20knts) and 16/18C. Radio wise 12m & 15m have been fairly productive with 17 being used as the other bands close. A lack of European and UK stations has been noticeable, however this should improve as we move east and the time difference is less we are now only 3 hours behind GMT with another time change tonight. I will be on 12, 15 and 17m today depending on what activity we find.? ?Appears to be the best time for N. Europeans & UK 1600 to 1800 GMT Other wise we have had some super contacts into the far reaches of US & Canada as well as the Pacific including Japan & ZL.? Especially stations using very basic set ups of end fed wire antennas & 100w or often much less. ? We are scheduled to arrive in the Azores on 20th after that we will be dismantling the antenna and cabling in order to start the packing of the radio kit, bicycles, and associated tools & spares. Before we tackle the clothes etc. for our scheduled return to the UK on 24th. ? We still hope to work you soon, ? 73 de Tony es Suzanne |
