FT991a with Signalink?
开云体育Hi: ? I am considering running my FT991a for digital modes with a SignaLink USB interface (in place of the internal sound card) so that I can run the entire system with a Raspberry Pi instead of a Windows laptop. Has anyone tried this, and if so, what menu settings did you change for this new configuration? ? 73, ? Mark, WA0ZIG ? |
开云体育Curious why you are interested in running digital modes off a raspberry pi? (To be clear, "just because" is a perfectly fine answer)Windows laptops with enough 'umph' to handle digital modes and give you a 12-15" screen & full keyboard can be had for just under $150. In my experience, the raspberry pi is like the stone in the children's 'stone soup' fable [1] - buying everything you need to build out a Raspberry Pi can run up to $150 pretty quickly. Anyway, just curious, thanks, Ken, N2VIP [1]?? On Mar 31, 2019, at 10:27 PM, 'Mark A. Miller' mark@... [FT817] <FT817@...> wrote:

I can see either way, my normal digital station (if anything I do is normal that is) is a laptop and an FT817 with a interface kit. The laptop sound card is as good as the Signal Link I also have. However I also have a Rpi B+2 that runs the Flsuite just fine. Not using the Signal link but a USB sound dongle Codex which I guess falls under the "Just because" category. Now what I have found is with the Rpi setup there are a lot of individual pieces strung together. I have also found that using the Rpi setup you will need a powered USB hub to to get full advantage of all of the USB pieces working properly. Along those lines, I am looking at building a platform on the back of the Cody 10" monitor to house the Rpi, USB hub, and power distribution. But I still have the cabled keyboard to contend with. So all in all if I am going out to do serious digital I will take the Laptop. If I am going out to? enjoy the portable (I only do portable HOA you know) I might do the Rpi for fun. Just me. 开云体育Are you aware of the Northwest Digital DRAWS board? It is a Raspberry Pi "hat" that controls up to two radios via mini DIN 6 pin cables (two signal links on one Pi-sized board) and includes:An accurate clock (sync'd via on-board GPS) An on-board GPS for APRS and similar applications A voltage converter to power the raspberry pi from 12v source And comes with a raspberry pi 'image' (OS and apps) to do all manner of digital modes, both HF and VHF/UHF It seems like a nice way to cut down the cable clutter when operating digital modes with raspberry pi. ? Yes I have seen that site and I am considering it as a possible upgrade to my Rpi. Marty kd8bj On 4/3/19 8:20 AM, Ken Hansen ken@... [FT817] wrote:
