FT817 portable go case

Hi all I hope your all well. I wonder if anyone can help me locate a portable solution for my FT817, must have room for the Z817 auto tuner as well as cables etc. Also does anyone know where I can get one in the UK or does anyone know of a secondhand one thats being sold?

I can be contacted at kev.tatlowg4xlo@... or on What's App 07513 155799?

Thanks

Kev?

I use a pistol case from harbor freight for mine. i can fit the rig, a couple of extendable antennas, the z817, a dual-diamond meter, a coaxial?balun and a few other assorted parts into it. They come with 3-4 foam layers? you can leave as-is, use as separators or cut to custom fit whatever you are putting inside.

My “go box” is a smaller version, about 6”x8”x4” and holds everything except the 4.5 Ah LiFePO4 battery and the antenna. It all fits in a sling pack with lots of room to spare.

Thanks for the heads up on the linkage SNAFU, Keith.

I believe it's time to toss and replace this darn mouse. I'm a bit ashamed to admit how many times I've spritzed the microswitch and button to "fix" its double-select malady - especially considering the paltry cost for a new one.

lol, I have a couple of severly?worn game pads from Nostromo (now owned by razer, and their new stuff is CRAP)

I kept one because I repaired it so many times and it technically even still functions due to all the repairs. (but was ultimately replaced with a newer model)

The newer one was still functioning when I stopped using it because I got tired of changes to the game (Warcraft) that I was using it upon.? The drivers and software have since vanished with the acquisition by Razer and replacement of both the device lines with razer-branded equivalents and overhauls to how they interact with the system.

But I kept both of them not only for how frankenstiened?they ended up being by the time i was finished with them, but to show the 'wear' I put them through. The second one is worst for wear, being backlit under the keys, most of the plastic coating over the keys is completely worn through showing the translucent plastic underneath. The plastic on the thumb control shows a permanent indentation the shape of the side of my left thumb. If you look really close, you can even make out a few lines of finger print?lines.? The home row of the four middle keys have permanent grooves FROM MY FINGERNAILS!

This is in no way a condemnation on the nostromo devices. it's a testament to just how much abuse they endured. I used them not only for over 3 years of variety game play, but ultimately spent 6 months uber-gearing a character with the best possible gear I could get for player-vs-player then spent about 2-3 hours a night for 3 months doing nothing but pvp to enjoy the fruits of my labors. (over 35000 total kills in those 3 months).

It's a hoot to see just what kind of abuse that puts on a plastic gaming appliance so I keep it on my shelf as my own nostalgic 'trophy'.? Being somewhat aggressive as it was in pvp, I'm amazed it lasted as long as it did and is still working at all!

I use one of these
Room for the 817, T1 ATU, mic, paddle, earphones, cables, battery pack and more.?
The orange inserts are mostly not used.
Very robust

I had found a MyDel product - MyDel Ham Bag Mini - from ML&S store. I had seen a video of this bag being discussed and it does look to be a nice fit for the FT-817. It is on my wish to buy when I do travel to UK. 72, Sandip EI7IJB

I use one of these. I takes the radio and all accessories apart from my JPC-12 antenna and comes with a pile of component storage boxes! Cost ?24.

Further to my original reply, the one I have is smaller that that shown on the Amazon link.
Mine is 31x27x6mm (approx). FYI - under the blue (3x18650) battery pack in the paddle-to-rig cable. And under the T1 is another battery pack!

I just got an "organizer bag" from Lidl in the UK for a fiver. It is a decent fit for the 817 and some other bits and pieces.?

Hi Sandip?
Yes the MyDel mini back pack is also the one I think would fit the bill, I would just like to see and feel the quality of construction. Cardboard and plastic boxes don’t do it for me as I don’t drive anymore(macular eye problems) so true portable is the only solution!

Hi All and many thanks for the suggestions, I loved the cardboard box idea hihi

I think after considering most.if the options I have I'll go with an aluminium flight case as that seems the best option?

I ordered the MyDel mini ham bag from ML&S on the understanding I could send it back if it wasn’t suitable. Whilst, yes, it will take the FT817/8 there is little room for anything else! There is an additional pocket at the front which will take the Z817 auto tuner or the mic. but not both. There is no room for additional batteries or other accessories. Additionally it is a shoulder bag not a backpack, which I thought it was from the photo in the ads, maybe that is my mistake. So it will be going back.?
There are no issues with regard to quality.?
