60mtr mod and Auto repeater offset?

chris

I am confused as to after making the mod, do you loose the Auto repeater
offset feature or do you go into the menu to turn it off to turn it on. I
have heard different stories.

Wud someone who has made the mod in the US let me know as to what happens
to the Auto repeater offset function

I, too, had heard that you don't really "lose" the function, but that
the ON/OFF menu feature reverses. I do not know this for a fact and would
appreciate anyone confirming this. Hopefully, I'll be mod'ing mine in a
few days and will post the answer to this issue here then, if no one else
beats me to it.

It does not work either when the menu item is selected on/off on my
radio. Don't really care because I know where it should be on all 3
bands.
Good Luck

It is my understanding that once you modify the radio from factory settings, you lose country-specific information, such as band plans, auto-repeater +/- and offset. The radio simply becomes a general coverage transceiver and you must manually enter all information such as splits and shift directions. I don't think it is worth the trouble for just 5 channels and I have other rigs that will cover those. I think you also lose the auto-search capability that is really useful for when you enter a new area but I am not sure about that.
