Re: Antenna Connectors and 6 meters
The SWR should not change between the connectors, nor should one
BNC-to-UHF adapter make a noticable difference even at TWO meters.
Check the shield termination on the PL-259 on your antenna coax;

Re: Antenna Connectors and 6 meters
I'm using a Par OA-50 Omniangle with my 817 on six meters. It is a
triangle shaped horizontal antenna. I've got it mounted inside my
attic. Had an opening between here (Milwaukee) and Nova Scotia a

Here is an easy mobile mount idea. This works in my 1994 GMC, and
makes use of the cup holder. I'm sure that the dash and cup holder

Re: Antenna Connectors and 6 meters
Alan --
I have tried a dipole on Six before, and was not very satisfied with
the performance. I don't know why it didn't work better. My current
antenna is a Cushcraft 6m Ringo, which is 5/8

Antenna Connectors and 6 meters
I have a dipole for 6 meters with a so239 connector. I have attached
to both the rear and front (via a 239/bnc adapter) and have noticed
very different SWR characteristics depending where I have it

Dear Harry,
DON'T DO IT!!!
Even if you double the power, at the most there will be half an S-

Re: MALDOL whip - SWR kinda crummy?
Here's the straight skinny on a cap hat addition: It'll do more for
tuning just above the coil, because it's closer to ground, but it'll
add more to the signal at the tip. Closer to ground, it has

Hi Harry,
Best not to increase the power beyond the specified level to maintain
the life cycle of the rig. If you are going to operate SSB, then get

Re: MALDOL whip - SWR kinda crummy?
Oh, I clipped at the tip of the whip, a capacity hat. Are you saying it will
have a greater affect if it's just above the coil? Well, what the heck, I'll
try it, it's just a matter of moving a clip

The information on the hidden menu is in the FAQ on yahoogroups.com. But if
you are looking to destroy your radio or at the very least shorten it's life
for the sake of an imperceptible gain in signal

Re: alignment menu curiosity

radio to be "off frequency" (in the non-FMN mode, anyway) when >3-3.5
KHz off-center.
This "tuning" status is obtainable using
