I assume you have connected the keyer paddle correctly to the 1/4" plug, tip and center ring to dit dah on the paddle and ground ring as common/ground. Put the rig in CW mode. Page 30 in my

And you want to set the FT-817 for break-in keying.? Thus when you touch the paddle levers, the radio will automatically go into transmit. Take care, Mark AA3K

Dave: Have you checked the function key menu items to verify that you've got the FT-817 set correctly?? These's a setting to go from iambic (or paddle) keying, to "straight" keying.? I don't have
