Re: FT-817 antenna port selectable by memory channel?
Tim, I have set all bands to be rear on my radio as I have an external antenna switch and a Diamond band splitter.? All UHF/VHF goes out one pipe and everything else goes out the other. -- Al

Re: FT-817 antenna port selectable by memory channel?
Thanks all! Sounds like I just need to select the VHF bands and set those, and the HF and set those. Good warning to check a band before i use it too, just to be sure that it's not selected for the

Re: FT-817 antenna port selectable by memory channel?
Hi Tim - I think the answer to this is 'No, not based on a memory channel, but it doesn't matter!'. From KA7OEI's FT-817 Pages... "Front and Rear Antenna is selected via menu item #7 and different

FT-817 antenna port selectable by memory channel?
Hi all - Is it possible to configure the 817 to automatically switch antenna ports (front/rear) based on a memory channel? EG, I save the VHF/UHF repeaters I use as channels, with the front port

tnx Guy, Q1104 looks good, Q1088 seems ok.

Re: 817 Stopped Working
Hi, Have a look at transistor Q1104 near connector J1045 on the diagram and soldered on the underside of the PCB, near S1001. This MOSFET is quite common and not expensive. It's also a very efficient

Re: "SWR" Meter Bars?
Several years ago, a friend showed me how to wind toroids lto make traps. I use a trapped end fed wire on 20, 30, and 40 meters for SOTA.? Sometimes on 20 I will see 3 bars, and feel safe to operate.

Re: "SWR" Meter Bars?
Larry- Lower reflected is always better. It is arbitrary in the case of the FT-718... Lower reflected bars only means your finals are operating in a "safer" zone that if it was all bars.. All too many

Re: "SWR" Meter Bars?
Hi Larry, If you have an SWR meter for HF, it¡¯ll probably be fine for 6 m. So long as the directional coupler in it is less than ¦Ë/20, about 30 cm (12¡±) it should work fine for you. If you have

Re: "SWR" Meter Bars?
if the radio flashes "high swr", that's it. To me acceptable is no more than 3 bars, if I'm not going to TX for long. -- Those who build beneath the stars build too low. --- Edward Young

"SWR" Meter Bars?
I put up a dipole for 6 meters (fed by RG8x coax). I don¡¯t have an SWR meter that¡¯s specified for 6 meters, so I¡¯m at the mercy of the ¡®817¡¯s internal ¡°SWR Meter¡± display as I test the

I have opened up two of these Windcamp battery packs, and they contain a smal BMS board inside. I hope this helps. 73 de Diego EC1CW

Hi Diego, I have a copy of that yellow book, the pack it reference for the yaesu ft817, and you are correct, the book is for the original ft817, mine was made 2002. Best regards, Rick VE1RNM wrote:
