Re: Windcamp Battery
Thanks Kevin for the reply. I am trying to find someone that just sells the battery alone. Not the charger or battery plate. I already have that. Just need a smaller battery than the 8 cell one I

Re: Windcamp Battery
If you have not done so yet I would highly recommend just going with the windcamp battery. I’m not sure what you are running but the windcamp has been excellent for me. Works great for my POTA

Re: Windcamp Battery
Ok Martin the battery is a 8 cell 2000mAH. Size is 4 inches x 2 1/2 inches. Takes up the entire compartment. No way will the Wind camp panel I ordered will fit. Dave -- 73's de NU4N

Re: Iambic mode - A or B?
Thank you for the quick reply, Bruno. I've used a Vibroplex semi-automatic key and a Lionel (I still have that) so I'm used to dits with the thumb and dahs with the index finger. In this case, though,

A hint about the battery you have would go a long way in getting feedback comparing the physical size of your battery to that of the windcamp battery... Ken, N2VIP

Re: Iambic mode - A or B?
Hi John It’s a matter of preference, i would risk saying that Iambic B is the only mode on the FT817 and also risk saying that it is the most common mode to be using a paddle. The main difference

Iambic mode - A or B?
As a long-term straight key operator trying to get to grips with iambic keying I would like to know whether the 817's internal keyer is mode A or mode B. Whichever it is, there isn't a choice, and I'm

Re: Power bank questions
That sounds like a really bad design. The cells do not stay matched and how do you match capacity? Any proper charger for multiple series LiIon cells needs a controller than measures each cell.

Re: Power bank questions
Also, note - the power bank you linked to claims 20,000 mA, but at what voltage? I suspect at 3.7 volts, the voltage of the internal cells - 20,000 mA at 3.7 volts will be closer to 5,000 - 6,000 mA

Re: Power bank questions
The connected device controls the output voltage, you would use a cable configured to "tell" the power bank to supply it with 12v. I don't think anything 'guarantees' the power bank won't provide a
