TC1 board
I picked up a nice FT-817 at a hamfest over the weekend.? I just opened it up to see if any options were installed.? In the TCXO area is a board that has TC1 printed on it.? I've spent some time

Re: A couple of basic questions
I used a Yaesu ATAS 25, which looks similar. Sliding coil, adjustable whip. Very touchy to tune at times, heavily dependent on the radial system. I was able to "fine tune"? the SWR to less than 1.5:1

Re: A couple of basic questions
Thanks Al. I did have an LDG tuner for this rig but as I wasn't planning any portable work at the time I sold it ... I've bought a JPC-12 vertical which is <1.5:1 at 7MHz but higher on the higher

Re: A couple of basic questions
The radio will alert you when the SWR is too high and it will back down during that condition.? I just found a tuner kit on Amazon for $35 and the enclosure for another $35.? It looks good so far

A couple of basic questions
I've had my 817ND for a few months now but only operated as a fixed station. I plan to go /P soon and would like to know: What is the maximum SWR the TX will tolerate without an ATU? When charging the

Re: POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
The front panel has it's own 5V regulator (Q4013), totally separate to the radio's 5V. Regardless of the CPU working, while the power switch S4002 is held on, The 12V is connected to the regulator by

Re: POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
Okay, looks like something is indeed broken on the front panel because I don't get anything even close to that. Makes sense, no ribbon cable -> no power to the CPU - no POW-ON signal. Thanks a lot for

Re: POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
Hi, I measured: the voltage on TP1029 (POW-ON) is exactly + 5V with ribbon cable connected. After disconnecting this cable, the voltage is 0V. BR Zbig SP3RNY Od: "Marek Szuba via groups.io"

POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
Hello, So, I've bricked my FT-817 while trying to install a digital SSB filter in it :-/ Not entirely sure what went wrong, most likely I accidentally shorted the filter's intended input-voltage wire

Re: Vox
Hi, I'd suggest looking at the mic output levels on a scope if you can, to see whether it's in specification for the rig input? Otherwise maybe try to borrow, or if not too expensive buy, a stock mic

Thanks.. yep I thought that was a bit of an outside chance. I did test the radio with my daughter and she said the audio was fine... 73 James M0JMX wrote:

Resistor values are not critical for electret mics. Sorry I can't help more. Can you listen to your audio on another radio? 2M ht? Dave

My (somewhat suspect) ft-817 doesn't activate with vox. I can see power swing with voice on ssb. I can also verify it is transmitting voice in FM (although I think it is maybe a bit quiet). I have
