A couple of basic questions
I've had my 817ND for a few months now but only operated as a fixed station. I plan to go /P soon and would like to know:
What is the maximum SWR the TX will tolerate without an ATU?
When charging

Re: POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
The front panel has it's own 5V regulator (Q4013), totally separate to the radio's 5V.
Regardless of the CPU working, while the power switch S4002 is held on, The 12V is connected to the regulator by

Re: POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
Okay, looks like something is indeed broken on the front panel because I
don't get anything even close to that.
Makes sense, no ribbon cable -> no power to the CPU - no POW-ON signal.
Thanks a lot

Re: POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
Hi, I measured: the voltage on TP1029 (POW-ON) is exactly + 5V with ribbon cable connected. After disconnecting this cable, the voltage is 0V.

POW-ON voltage of FT-817ND
Hello,
So, I've bricked my FT-817 while trying to install a digital SSB filter
in it :-/ Not entirely sure what went wrong, most likely I accidentally
shorted the filter's intended input-voltage wire

Re: Vox
Hi, I'd suggest looking at the mic output levels on a scope if you can, to see whether it's in specification for the rig input?
Otherwise maybe try to borrow, or if not too expensive buy, a stock

Re: Vox
Thanks.. yep I thought that was a bit of an outside chance. I did test the
radio with my daughter and she said the audio was fine...

Re: Vox
Resistor values are not critical for electret mics. Sorry I can't help more.
Can you listen to your audio on another radio? 2M ht?

Re: Vox
Sorry - just checked - it's an 8.2k resistor on the 5v line.

Vox
My (somewhat suspect) ft-817 doesn't activate with vox. I can see power
swing with voice on ssb. I can also verify it is transmitting voice in FM
(although I think it is maybe a bit quiet). I have

Re: LDG Z-817 issue

Re: LDG Z-817 issue
Very possibly. Is there a way for the user to do that? I checked LDG's website and found nothing on support. Sent them an email earlier today, no reply yet.

Sounds like the software may need to be reflashed.

LDG Z-817 issue
I recently acquired a used Z-817 tuner for my FT-817. I set the CAT to 38400 as specified in the FT-817. No cables to computer - just the FT-817 and Z-817. When I hit the tune button on the Z-817, the
