Anyone out there tried to download those blasted files(ie the manual and
else) for some reason I can vue the files but I cannot download them.

If the receive current of the ft-817 is truly 450mA as our friend from
Japan has said, I seriously doubt I'll buy one. I had heard earlier that
the receive current was around 150mA.

If you read the fine print, I think you will find out when you turn off the
back light it drops substantially. Same problem with the IC 706.

It has 150ma rx draw on switch on with no volume and 450ma at full
volume

Has anyone actually confirmed this?
I guess the numbers make sense. About 3 watts dissipated at full volume
(1 watt or so of audio out).
