Re: FT-817 carry case
I didn't even know there was an official Yaesu case for the 817. But
if there was, it would probably cost five times what I just paid. If
I was going to pay serious money for a case I'd want one

Re: receive above 154 mHZ
Hi Tony,
I maybe wrong, but..
1. The FT817 was originally only designed for Japan.
I don't think they have NOAA Wx.?
2. NOAA Wx Tx's are North America only.?

Re: FT-817 carry case
I got the real case from a MFJ dealer in the flea market at Dayton for $19. It's very well made. Leather, with all the right holes.... I tried to get something from Western Case Co in CA but they

I never would trash this lovely little radio, but my initial reaction to
working with it was incredulity that someone would design a perfect rig for

Re: Battery Charge Question?
Tom and group,
Actually it's not that simple. Neither the TX nor RX current figures are
constant. In many situations, the RX current actually is higher than the
TX current. If you are listening to

Re: Battery Charge Question?

,
Sorry, but it's not that simple... but not hard either, just a little
more math.
First , you have to assume yr radio usage. A good fiq to start with is a

ARDTS 817 From RT Systems

Re: amplifier
I think this is illegal, per FCC. A radio has to load an amp with a minimum
of 50 watts. Its a rule
that came out, if I remember right, in the 1970's so that CB linears would
be harder to come

Icom CW filter
I have an Icom 706 that could use a filter but have nothing to swap except maybe some cash. Let me know if you are interested in selling the 500hz filter.

Paul:
Sort of, but not really. Since the load the radio will place on the
battery will be variable depending on how much you transmit and receive,
that alone will make it difficult to figure out.

Re: amplifier
Hi Jeffrey,
The applicable rules are 97.315 and 97.317 plus a few referred
rules. In short, 97.317 says that an EXTERNAL RF HF amp must require
NLT 50 W drive to produce its full rated output.

How do you figure out how long a 817 will run on a 12 volt 7.2 AH SLA
battery? Is it just a matter of converting the 7.2 AH battery rating into
milliamps and then dividing that by the max milliamp

Hint: PSK31 with 500 Hz filter
Michael Dirska, DL1BFF pointed out that using Menu#26 USER-U instead
of PSK-U solved the problem of a frequency offset when using the 500
Hz filter on PSK31.
Now here is another hint. If you use
