Hey Guys
I just got my Z11 which works very well. The manual
states that 2 rechargeable 9v batteries in series can
be used and then cautions not to use alkaline
batteries since the voltage would be over 14v.
I went through this!
the battery idea came about using the older technology Ni-cads.
when I got my z-11 the same thing happened. everyone was selling
higher
output ni-cads only.
Then I tried to use a light bulb to discharge 2 alkalines when I
finally got
them down enough, they lasted about 4 tunes then quit.
You can use some rechargable AA's or even AAA's in a pack to make
the
voltage.
I called Superantennas about this and they said that this was not a
problem. Something about peak voltage vs sustained voltage. Been
using 2 9v NiMH with no problem.
I usually use external power for the z-11 and the radio.
Be careful of the connector. It has a switch inside and it isn't
needed or
used but it can get bent inward and cause a short to the power
supply
(SMOKE).
I replaced the connector with wires coming out with an automotive
style
plug.
They should really stop saying that about the tuner.
