Re: Durable: ATX 3/8-24 +SuperAntennas FT-817 Mount

Julio

Bonnie I have an ATX antenna, and I just can't imagine that it would be strong enough to survive a ride outside a vehicle at anything faster than walking speed. Have you actually tried it that way?

I have been using the ATX Walkabout 3/8-24 thread base with the
SuperAntennas FT-817 Mount.

I'm happy to report this combination is much more durable than my
other ATX Walkabout BNC mount, even with the PL-259/elbow adaptions to
the SO-239 of the FT-817.

Another nice thing about the ATX 3/8-24 is that it is compatible with
other mobile fittings, so it can be used as a rental car mobile
antenna with a trunk-lip or other type of mount.

The swivel part of the Superantennas mount can be removed for packing
and I sometimes still use my ATX-BNC when I need a smaller pedestrian
package.
