In 25 years + of hamming I NEVER operated 6m until I got my '817. It's
quickly
become my favorite band. I recently worked Fiji with the rig from central
Tokyo
using a groundless vertical on my 2nd floor balcony, getting a true S9
report.
I couldn't believe it and didn't believe it was for real until I got the
QSL card.
On my trip last weekend to Amami Oshima and Kakeroma islands (IOTA
AS-023), it was
6m that generated the majority of QSOs, despite hours of trying also on 10
through 40
with a variety of antennas.
I've concluded six is hamming's best kept secret and regret I didn't get
on the band years
earlier.
