Don, Radio Works manufactures a big line of current baluns. If you go to
their Web Page at www.radioworks.com I'm sure you will find the answer. It's
my understanding that a current balun does a better job of balancing the
currents in the legs of a balanced antenna when fed with coax.

Can anyone enlighten me regarding the difference between a 1:1 balun
marked as a "Current Type" and another 1:1 marked only as a balun? I am
going to use either one to couple unbalanced coax to a flat top dipole.
