Re: 6m Whip

Simon

You might try out a 2M 5/8 wave - they will also work for 6 meters -
but SSB is usually run with horizontal polorization as there
is "ground-gain" to be had, plus on line of site - there is abt 20 db
of loss due to cross polorization between vertical and
horizontal..... FM is usually vertical.

In the US, M-squared - www.m2inc.com - makes a nice horizontal loop
out of 1/4" aluminum tubing that works pretty good - but rather big
and hard to mount. Different variations are available from KB6KQ -
kb6kqnorm@... and www.rf-filters.com - I worked Vermont from
California with the M2 on 6, and covered about a 150 mile path on 2
last weekend with a KB6KQ - fun stuff.

Hi All,

I ordered a FT-817 today, having been QRT since 1983/1984. I was
GD4ELI, am
now HB9DRV. Do 6m 1/4 wave whips exist for the car? When I was last
active
6m wasn't allocated (I think).

I'm off to the Friedrichshaven fest at the end of June, maybe I'll
find one
there, but would like to know whether I'm wasting my time.

What do you all use for 6m while mobile?
