For those that wanted to know....
I finally got a hold of Yaesu today and they confirmed as many on the
reflector had suggested that 100 ma on the TX ground line is about it for
keying transverters/amps.
It was taking 107 ma to key the DEM 10 GHZ transverter, the relays, and the
1W Qualcomm amp. The Qualcomm amp was not keying properly though. The
solution was adding a relay inside the transverter so all the FT-817 sees is
the one relay that actually keys the transverter, amp, and coaxial relays.
Now the current is 45 ma and it works just fine.....thanks to WA1ECF for the
solution.
I set up portable at the Marconi site in Welfleet, MA (FN51) (as K1XP) on
Saturday during the contest and was able to work as far as W2SZ so the system
is playing. The DEM/FT-817 certainly makes a real sweet, very compact,
portable set up for 10 GHZ

BTW, I'm on land until mid-August
