Re: Power adjust

Yes, the manual certainly leaves a lot to be desired. Interestingly the QST
review commented that it was an excellent manual, I think most of us here
strongly disagree with that statement. However, It sounds like your unit is
operating normally. The only time you will see the blinking icon is when you
are running on battery and the voltage is below 11 volts or so. If you are
using a power supply with 12 or 13 volts you will see no icon at all when
the power is at 5 watts.

Subject: [FT817] Power adjust

I am trying to set my 817 for 5 watts power. My manual says I will
have a "blinking icon" at 5 watts. Running from a Yaesu power supply
that powers my 757GX, I can't get it to go to a "blinking icon".

I do observe that when no icon is present, I have 8 bars showing on
the PO meter. I presume this to mean I am at full 5 watts power.
This is contradicting the owner's manual. Anyone else have this
experience. I am following the book. Am I doing something wrong, or
was the manual written by someone who doesn't use English as his first
language?

Thanks,
Ken, AI6F
