ATX won't tune

Raffy Shammay

I have had the ATX no fuss tuning using a bunch of ground wires.

I first set up an automotive spade & lug extention from the ground screw
on the 817.
I then cut the recommended length of "counterpoise" for each band, and
tested it.
Lastly I soldered all the wires together at one end, and fitted a
spade/lug connector for quick connect to the 817. I also gathered the
wires together into a loom and bound them together using 6 cable ties.

When I want to use the ATX, I just unroll the wire bundle, plug it into
the back ground lug, select the band I want, and just transmit.
On all bands that i cut the counterpoise for, it's less than one bar on
transmit.
No fuss, no tuning, just works.

When I'm finished, I disconnect, roll it up and put it back my 817 bag.

Hope that helps
