The Poll is appropriate; it is dealing with the memory management of
the FT-817. It has a direct impact on the development of the software
needed for memory management. The developer would like to know which
platform is the most popular. Why write software for a platform that
no one uses. The Palm OS is more then likely the one of choice with a
laptop second. The Palm gets good battery life. BTW your Palm IIIe
will not run WinCE.
Your question about transferring a message is a can of worms. It is
some what system dependent. It could be as simple as a forward of
the message or cut and paste, or you may have to use sneaker net to
get the information to the appropriate officials.
Your points are all well taken and are questions that should be
discussed and answered.

Greetings to all:
In as much as I do not take these polls too seriously, I would
rather
see a discussion on what are the pros and cons of each system.
For example, I just recently acquired a Palm IIIe. I presume that
it
can run either Palm OS or Windows CE or both. What are the
advantages of one over the other? If I am in an emergency
situation,
and I have downloaded an e-mail from a pactor board from an HF
terminal, what is the best software for transferring that message
onto a LAN that is being operated by the municipality that I am
working with? Can I use my YAPP? my PKPakRATT? WF1B software?
Log
Windows? Writelog?
It is very difficult to make an informed decision when one is
ignorant of the factors, and this sort of poll is not helpful.
What do the experts say?
For that matter, this discussion (and poll) is probably
inappropriate
for this group. A better forum, IMHO, is in the digital group. But
then again, let's not get too dogmatic about these things...
