I've played with all three, RT, FTBasic and RATS. We're close, but
not there yet. RATS has the best GUI, bar none, but lacks the memory
management that RT says is their forte, but alas is not, because
FTBasic has the best memory management, but lacks the finesse of
RATS! I nearly went nuts with RT's software this weekend. Here is
my e-mail to them, incase anyone has encountered the same
problems: "I loaded up the latest version of the software (May 29)
and it is still loaded with bugs. Shift+Ins and Shift+Del don't
work. If you are trying to format your memories for group recall,
the software fills in the remaining empty memories with the last
entry or the first entry in the new group. For example, in group 2
I have one freq stored 53.330. My next memory group starts at 41,
and I entered 146.76. All of the memories between 22 and 40 have
been filled in with 53.330! Next, I went into the editor,
and "deleted" and on the second attempt "cleared" and whatever I
could do to get rid of them and saved. Screen showed cleared, but
when I downloaded to radio they were still there! I saved all my
corrections, and guess what? When I rebooted the software and opened
my saved file, none of my changes (deletions and insertions) were
saved! I tried this a number of times. When I signed on, I didn't
know it was as a beta tester, but nevertheless, we're in it till it
right, so... next version please!"
I enjoy playing with the RATS software. It is a smooth running
intuitive piece of software which is advertised as Beta! However it
was FTBasic that got my memories the way I wanted them...
Neat if we could get all the features into one package... stupid me,
stupid me...
