Careful, as I understand it the level converter is not in the FT-817 but is
built into the CT-62 cable from Yaesu. If you just make your own cable you
won't have the required level conversion. For $30.00 why mess around, buy
the right cable!

I am not absolutly sure, but I think the converter is built in on the
FT817. Manual says the line level converter is built in. All you need
is the cable rig to serial. I am having trouble locating the pinouts
for the computer side of the cable at the DB serial plug. The manual
has the pinouts for the rig.
