Although I firmly believe a pocket NOAA WX receiver ( probably with "SAME"
technology... a sort of weather emergency SelCall system ) is a better
choice, I found the converter I used to use to convert 162.55 to 22.55
It's small like the 817. It can NOT take transmit because it's an accessory
to the FRG-7700 shortwave receiver. It's called the FTV-7700. It converts
118-130 to 18-30, and 150-160 or 160-170 down to 20-30MHz.
It also has a 10/20 dB optional attenuator. Has an antenna in/out as well as
a longwire connection
If you're just dying to get above 154 on the 817 look for it.
