Has anyone measured the charge current and
terminal voltage of the internal charger yet?
It's about 180mA. Perfect for two eight hour cycles or maybe even 10 hour
cycles.


Sure, you can cut the green wire.
Sure, you can buy 1600 maH cells (at Dayton)
and fuse it and over temp protect.

BUT: are the cells going to be fully charged? or
killed by the charger. NiMH are pretty funny
about being overcharged and having a high float
current after the charge.
After the charge there is an 18mA trickle.

I'd say for something unintended it's a pretty good match
