customer hoping to pick mine up at Dayton. However, in the meantime, here is my take on the charging question: Since the ONLY connection between the 817 and the One Plug Power (OPP) battery is the Yaesu Molex connector in the battery compartment of the radio, the OPP battery CAN be charged from the external power jack on the rear deck of the radio. It would look to the radio like the stock Yaesu NiCd battery pack. The OPP would, however in that case, be subject to all the limitations of the constant current, timed charger in the radio, requiring 16-20 hours to get a full charge into the 1650 MaH NiMH pack. The new jack on the new door allows FAST charging in 3 hours with total isolation from the 817 with over-current and thermal protection. I'll see if I can get confirmation of this from theW4RT Electronics folks and let you know. 73, Bill W4RK Nashville, TN USA ----- Original Message -----
