I saw an MP-1 antenna in person for the first time
this weekend at a hamfest, and I was very impressed.
This morning I found a screamin' deal on a new MP-1
on eBay... $135 shipped, including the optional 80m
coil... so I jumped on it!
Since you can't really have too much antenna when
working portable QRP, I was thinking about buying an
MFJ-1954 10' telescopic whip to use as a top section
on the MP-1. Have you guys tried this, and if so, how
did it work for you? I realize that the combination
of the MP-1 and MFJ-1954 would be a bit too long for
10/12/15 meters, but since I mainly work 20/30/40m,
it sounds like a good choice. Assuming that I don't
use it on a really windy day, will the MP-1 coil be
able to support the 10' whip without damage?
Opinions, please?
