Re: Power shuts off during transmitt


 

One solution for the shut off problem is to put an electrolyte
capacitor accross the output lead to the radio.
I use an 4700 microfarad 25V unit (you may need two if one still
causes shut off) this provides a buffer for the power supply as
transmision power surge occurs.
Make sure you dont get the polarity wrong or the Capacitors may blow.
If this still does not fix the problem, then check at full power if
it shuts off on all bands or just at 2 metres only.
If all bands are ok especially on FM, then its an RF problem as the
144Mhhz is close to the 50 to 60Hz resonance point, and you may need
to shield the power supply in a metal box ie a child's pencil case
stc.
I would be surprised if this doesnt fix it.

Hey this was how i did it, but maybe go backwards try the metal
pencilcase first!!!!!, the get the caps.
