As convenient as it might be to use RF sense for PTT I think it falls far short of satisfactory for SSB operation as you have clearly demonstrated. I reckon it would be much better to take the PTT line from the accessory socket on the radio and interface it to pin 4 on the amplifier accessory socket to reliably switch it to TX.?

It sounds like you have VOX turned on.? It is found on the front panel menus.? Access by pressing the F key and use the select knob to move to menu 10 VOX.? Pressing the A key turns it on and off.
