Hi,
?
the choice of the bandwith has a lot to do with personal preferene.
The cfj455k14 are often in reality around 2.2k kHz wide at -6dB. This can be desired in crowded band conitions.
?
I prefer a SSB bandwith of 2.7 kHz and have in the past replaced this filter with the cfj455k13 on serveral rigs and not used the optinal filter slot. I find the audio much more pleasing.

It is important to adjust the carrier offset in the service menu to get the optimum slice of the audio spectrum as the filters are variing in their center frequency.
?
The downside of a wider filter is a bit more "monkey chatter" in a crowded band.
?
Besides that, this filter defines the audio banwith of the tranmitted signal.

You may want the better audio fidelity, or prfefer to concentrate your rf power on a smaller bandwidth to be more "punchier".
