Yes the 817 wild rain the battery over a piriod of time. The main problem is not the batteries but the Finals. When the voltage and current lowers to a point it will cause problems and could blow the finals.?
This has been noted for years. You will find many posts on the subject in the files area.
I have purchased a replacement WINDCAMP battery door that has a switch built in that completely disconnects the batteries for any storage time.
You will find them listed on Ebay. Also listed is the WINDCAMP lithium 3000 mah batteries designed for the 817 & 818.
I have been using one for over 3 years in mine.?
