The early models of the big brothers(857/897) are the ones where the filters usually failed, I don't think those in the 817s caused any problems.

I have read about the failure of Toko ceramic filter in various Yaesu radios.
I have a Yaesu VX-7 and a VX-2200 commercial radio where the ceramic filters failed.
I have recently acquired an FT-817 which dates from 2003/4. The ceramic filters seem to be OK.
I wonder if anybody has an FT-817 where the ceramic filters have failed and whether any failure is linked to a certain manufacturing date?
