Martin, ??? I do the same. I use the slightly larger 10.2AH version and yes they work longer and a full TX power.

It lasts longer (7.2 Amp) ¨¢nd you will have the bennefit of full TX power since you will be feeding the power through a regular powercable.
The variety in available amps is huge, but the 7.2 Amp version usually works fine.
