I recased mine in a diecast Hammond enclosure. I was challenged by an erstwhile erudite contributor as to why I didn't incorporate a more sensible TX interface, but as I replied back then, there were various decisions to be made and that was one of them. It required careful shimming internally to preserve the tuning knob function anyway, so I left it as standard. The bottom is a camera mount that I tapped and four internal 6-32 screws attach it to the case so the tripod can sit flush. Obviously there is no performance improvement (!) but the original plastic enclosure irritated me. From my perspective it was worth the effort.
