I have an ND with the sotabeams filter, it is installed so a Collins filter can be run parallel with it and I find it very comparable to the Collins on CW. The slopes of the filters must be similar because to my ear they have almost the same sound.
Depending on your use case it may be a good option.
The Sotabeams is always in-line either using the wide or narrow setting. And since it is a dsp audio filter it is always in series with the stock ceramic filter on receive.
Ultimate rejection of closed space signals probably would still be a good case for the Collins filters but for just general use I think the sotabeams is very usable.
The only interest I have in any of the equipment is as an owner but I do have an 817nd on QRZ for sale with the sotabeams filter installed right now.
