Re: FT817 woes


 

Hi,
I had same problem.
First, unplug all power, including battery.
Open top cover and locate the TCXO board (close to the metal enclosure on the upper right side, that contains the PLL). The small TCXO board is inserted in a kind of socket (4+3 pins, if I remember correctly). Remove and reinsert this small board several times. Finally insert it, reassemble the radio and apply power.
Hopefully it will work. It worked for me. Guess I was lucky and it was just a matter of bad contact.

I have a FT 817 with flashing display. Yaesu says it would cost more to repair than the radio is worth. A PLL issue they say.?

I wonder if there is another 817 out there with other issues that I might buy to repair mine...Hal/WB4AEG
