I found it beneficial to attach a small box to the rear panel via the threaded boss serving as a chassis connection. The 817 is in the bottom of the box completely protected and the pp is mounted on the box cover with either an m2 screw, or a 2-56. Either one will work. I also have a reverse polarity protection diode inside. Its all very solid with no adapter cables.

They have them in the local flea market. Other place to look is any thrift store. Get one with the right barrel connector and cut the cable?
Good luck.?

I can
buy a pigtail with a female 1.7 x 4mm socket and add a PP to
it.

Hi Randall:
This is a case where the solution is to cut the cable that feeds the rig,
and install a PP connector. ? And... you can install a PP connector on the
piece you cut off, so as to make a cable adapter that will restore the original
plug's capability. ?Don't forget to double check the polarity of the leads
inside the cable. ?And check again.
