Has anyone used Felder schleiffix sanding drums? They are in xmas catalog. I will have to go to the shop to check how slow I can run the shaper. I would also like to know if paper is held well by this device and if felder paper being offered is good.
Thanks, Imran

Yes, I have used them and sold them off. ?They run too fast, don’t oscillate, burn up paper quickly. ? This is a better alternative IMO:

Thanks David. I suspected that I could not slow the shaper adequately. My heart is set on oscillating spindle Sander with cast iron table but it is way down on priority list. I had heard and read that Rigid is a pretty good unit.

I was about to say the same thing and recommend the Rigid sander.
I bought the Rigid shortly after buying the schleiffix and have been using the Rigid ever since. ?I forgot I had the Schleiffix and paper. ?

I thought about those shaper sanders but also thought about the speed and related problems. I ended up getting a stand alone Grizzly that has about 10 spindles. First off my not a huge fan of most of what Grizzly has to offer but for 1000.00 CDN delivered the next day by Amazon.ca it's turned out to be a nice surprise. I've had it for about 2 years now with out any issues.?

We also have the shaper drums sitting in the cabinet. Don't bother. I've used the Delta Boss, it's a fine little machine. We now have the Jet which is also good for $500.

I know I am reviving an old thread, but... I was looking at the Laguna and Delta newer floor standers as they have a trunnion tiliting mechanism so the table stays flat.? Thoughts? Thoughts? PK

Dmitry,
Didnt know that was an option for my KF700SP that is on the way Is!? Is the fact that is is non oscillating going to make it less usable?

Dmitry,
I was warned to stay away from the sanding drum kit on shaper due to RPM being too high. Do you have variable speed on shaper?

Nope,
Just the 4 speeds everyone else has...? 3500 rpm is kind of high and the smallest radius is 45mm.
May be a little limited.??
Does anyone else use one?

If you’re talking about these sanding heads, I think you’ll be disappointed. ? They rotate entirely too fast and do not oscillate. ? A bobbin sander is a much better alternative.

This is the spindle sander I have - not the most refined piece of gear, and not for heavy production, but it works well and costs less than the aluminum sanding heads for the shaper:

I don't use a spindle sander much but have an old State T150 which was the earlier version of the T5.. Both had a tilting spindle and sleeves from 1/4-4".? The best spindle sanders made in the US were from Kindt Collins.? Dave
