I don't use a spindle sander much but have an old State T150 which was the earlier version of the T5.. Both had a tilting spindle and sleeves from 1/4-4".? The best spindle sanders made in the US were from Kindt Collins.? Dave

This is the spindle sander I have - not the most refined piece of gear, and not for heavy production, but it works well and costs less than the aluminum sanding heads for the shaper:
