I have not checked with Felder as it is not going to be quick. Took them 6 weeks to get me limiters for a standard knife.
These are also referred to as 64F series or 690 series and look like this
I am looking for someone who can do a custom knife set for me, 40 mm tall.

I’ve had Hot Knives make those. They can use the better and thicker steel also. Those heads will accept 1mm thicker than standard for the knife. I bet Neil at MT tool could as well.
|
Joe, you are correct, I've had Neil cut 40mm knives.?

That must be a different mt tool.?
Neil is in Baltimore.
On the? plus side he is extremely fast. I've had corrugated knives in less than 24 hours from emailing a drawing to the knives showing up at my door.?

Did you want limiters too?? Not all north American shops are familiar with them though some are.
|
I bought some Dimar profile cutters and limiters from The profile cutters Felder offers are common Euro profile?cutters. Those profiles are offered by many different companies.? Amana Tool 64F016 Imran mentioned is the same as? James

If you just want the standard commodity 40/50mm profile knives most places (including Amazon) carry them. The the number system is standardized. Cmt or amana will be common in the us.?

Looks like CMT 016 profile cutter's price is only 50% of the Dimar cutter's price from . Doing woodwooding is really expensive in Canada.
Btw, looks like Imran is looking for the limiter to the 016 profile commodity cutter from Felder.?

Sorry for the confusion caused by the picture I shared as an example. As the title say and the end of my original msg says, “I am looking for someone who can do a custom knife set for me, 40 mm tall.”
Brent, You are correct, most Amana series don’t come with limiters. FWIW, I have used a rebate limiter with one I bought that did not come with limiter but I got them from Felder after 6 weeks or so.

My $.02, if looking for custom knives 3/8" corrugated is a better value than 40/50mm pin knives. At least in my experience.?

?
Imran, what I meant was the shops who do custom grinding of profiles for your Felder euroblock don't all grind the limiters too.? Some will only do the cutters, though I believe some of them will do the limiters too.??

Brent, Thanks for the clarification.

I think as a fallback you can use the flat limiter with any profile. ?

You could make the argument that it would be better than nothing, but only if absolutely no part of that straight knife protruded beyond any part of the cutters projection.? Best to have both made for eachother....
|
I agree that the proper limiter is better but if you are power feeding it is fine to use the flat limiter. If hand feeding then the proper limiter is a nice safety feature. ?
When talking about the 40mm knives for these particular cutter heads I don’t think any profiles have cuts below the flat limiter edge. ?I think all profiles are from the flat limiter and out.
I remember struggling with getting knives and limiters for these cutter heads years ago. ?I found that I could get knives from Guhdo or Felder at the time and Guhdo was much faster. ?The knives and limiters were not widely available in the US around 2010 that I could find. ?The fellow from Guhdo pointed out that I could use the flat limiter with any profile as long as power feeding and that was very helpful. ?
I had several of these cutter heads and would leave them set up, using flat limiters saved money. ?I had two cutter heads set up for tongue and groove.
