K700 LCD issue

Has anyone come across this issue? ?I'm out of warranty, so wondering if this is an easy fix, like possibly a cable/connection issue?
?
Thanks

Hi Joe,

It is hard to tell from pic if you caught it during refresh. I helped a member who had a bad display on planer. I checked voltages, Crystal, clock and looked for obvious bad parts but in the end there was nothing I could do to fix it. I would call felder and get a replacement. His machine was much older and he was still able to get a replacement. I don’t think it was overly expensive.

If it was my machine I would check incoming voltage to the display board to be sure that it is in check. I don’t not think the encoder input being bad would result in an erratic segment display but those areas can be cleaned.

Joe: ?Can’t tell what the issue may be? ?I had a display issue on my Format 4 Dual 51 with the blue light display…was told that Felder had isssues with those displays…they ended up sending me a display circuit board in red…I was out of warranty as well but they ended up supplying it no cost after I said that I expected better from Format. ?Terry

Thanks, guys. ?The halo effect in the photo is not actually there...the issue is just the missing segments. ?I'll call Felder next week, and in the meantime, I'll poke around and see if it's anything obvious. ?
?
Thanks
-Joe

Yeah, I had that a few years back. They sent me a new controller which was straight forward to install, but had to be re-programmed once in the machine. The programming instructions didn’t work for me, and they sent a technician. Didn’t work for him either. They finally ended up on the phone with Austria to get it working.

The blue LEDs are prone to failure, so now I have red. I don’t expect there are quick fixes for this.?

I called Felder this morning and they want about $500 for a new display board. ?That seems kind of expensive. ?I took out the board and was wondering if it's just an issue with the 7 segment led modules, can they be replaced? ?But I can't find a matching part number when doing a google search. ?Any thoughts??

If you are good with soldering, share the PN on the display. Not sure if there is more info on the back side which would require removing the display. Anyhow, if I have a PN, I can try to match the display as long as a datasheet is available for the part on your board.

Those are ELS511 displays which are 14mm 7 segment displays. This particular part seems difficult to find but it is a standard pinout and there are alternatives. Search for 14mm 7 segment displays and you should find some. It won’t matter if they are red instead of blue.?

These will probably work: https://a.co/d/iaSGTOC

Thanks, Matthew...for 9 bucks, certainly worth a shot!

Let us know how it turns out.?
