Full Sheet Plywood - Slider size

Just a quick question for those who have entertained the same.

Is it possible to rip full sheets of plywood with the 2500mm slider?

Or do you need the 2800mm size minimum?

Thanks

I am not sure, but I have a 2800 and wouldn’t want to go down to the 2500. Room for clamps ect.

I’m with Mark, wouldn’t want anything less than 2800mm. ?I have a 3200mm, it’s great for full sheet processing. ?

Hi ?Abruptlly
As Mark and Wade said, here's a little more info...
I think 2500 will fit a sheet but little or no space for other apparatus like Mac's clamps.
My first sliding table was 2800 and although that allowed a full sheet and Mac's clamps, it was still pretty tight and I always thought the next size up would be better.
Last year I lucked out and was able to upgrade to a longer table.? Although the 3200 is spacious, you do need a bit more space to fully extend the table both sides of the blade.? Having said that it's a dream to use, and especially nice having the extra length when ripping those longer boards.??
Lastly, see if it's possible to have a "play" with one. (I'm in the middle of the North Island of NZ if that helps)
Cheers
David

The 2800 allows for two of Mac’s clamps which are pretty much essential.?

I made a short video that illustrates how a 2500mm sliding table relates to a 4x8 sheet of plywood and the resulting restrictions for clamping accessories. ?You can see it here: ??

David,?
This is wonderful.
Thank you for this.

Yes it, there’s no room for accessories such as clamps however

if you have space, then bigger the better...

if you dont have space, like me, smaller is better. my new panel saw is called a 2200mm slider but it can cut a full size sheet.?

Albert,

What am I missing here? ?Are you saying it can rip a full size sheet? ?

To clear things up here is an image of a 2200 slider, it will cut 2600

Wade, yes I can cut a full sheet. see Jonathan's image.?

Hello
Sometimes you have what have, or have what you can fit in
I have a KF700 with a 2500 sliding table
I don’t often cut full 2400 sheets, but when I do I use two modified clamps
A Bessey , with an extended base, which straddles the cross cut fence and a Festool with a washer welded on to slip into the same channel at the back end
Cheap, and works, particularly for a solo operator
Not Macs clamps, but I don’t have the slider length to allow them AND a 2400 sheet
I am not in production manufacturing
It works for me

This is curious given the dimensions. Kinda misleading.

What makes this a 2200 slider given these dimensions??
Just curious how they denote the size.?
2200 to the end where the handle starts?

The operator is exposed to an unguarded saw blade. I definite draw back among many . Machine is not designed for full long sheet cutting period!

Mac, trying to understand how the blade is unguarded?
Ok the slider passes the saw blade, but is this not the same on any slider?
If you don't want to run the slider past the saw blade for what ever reason it still cuts a 2440mm sheet.

My 2000mm Knapp has a safety cut off that stops the blade as the front of the sliding table passes the front of the blade.? Before I got my 10' slider I made a wagon that extended the front of the slider and bypassed the switch so I could pass the table beyond the back of the blade and cut full size sheets.? It worked but you needed to pay attention to what you were doing.? Now it sits on the wall.? The 10' slider doesn't have that safety switch but it is 1990s vintage so that may be a later requirement.? Dave
